Bike Build Showcase – Colnago Y1Rs Raw Carbon Project

“Light weight or aerodynamics? Yes.”

That is probably the best summary of this no-expense spared Y1Rs build. Just like with the TT1, the team paintjobs of the Y1Rs are not up to everyone´s taste.

Inspired by the TT1 we have done earlier, this customer wanted a similar finish, with a selection of lightweight components that don´t compromise on performance and real world usability.

The full build topped out at 6.85kg in a size Large. Pretty impressive stuff for a no-compromise aero-bike!

Unsurprisingly, we have used a selection of Sixweel titanium components to cut the weight from structural elements of the bike, like the thru-axles, UDH hanger, cassette and brake caliper mount. Power is transferred via a Sram RED E1 crank, equipped with a Quarq D4 PM spider and Carbon-Ti chainrings. The assembly spins on a Ceramicspeed BB-Alpha for maximum efficiency.

A significant amount of weight (~100g) can be cut by replacing the standard bottle cages and Di2 battery mount.

The Scope Artech 6A wheelset represents the pinnacle of road bike wheel technology. It successfully combines cleas-leading aerodynamic performance, low weight and durability. We have fitted them with the excellent Continental GP5000 TT TR tires to complete the package.

The ever-popular Wove Mags saddle and Darimo seatpost save more weight, while providing the comfort necessary for long hours on the bike.

Carbon-Ti floating brake rotos and AMP brake pads ensure that the stopping power matches the bike`s performance.
